A DOOR CLOSES, A WINDOW OPENS
Well, here we are. It seems like only yesterday, I was flailing away on a typewriter, pounding on the keys like Liberace on a bad day, trying to put thoughts on paper and share my enthusiasm for games. Computers were not even a gleam in my eye when I put together the first issue of GAMERS ALLIANCE REPORT back in 1986. It's amazing just how things can change - but change they do.
We went from a 12 page newsletter with no graphics to speak of. We moved to 16 pages with graphics. We started using a computer to set up the issues and laser-printed them. Two years ago, we built our first web site. Even then, we didn't envision what we have now. Gamers Alliance has gone from a paper and print medium to the new age of cyberspace. We've closed the door on the old - and opened up a window onto a brand new gaming world!
Lots of changes here - and we think for the better! Now, Gamers Alliance is in COLOR with color photos to add to the pleasure of the reviews. Our Information Center is now more up to date as we CONTINUALLY update the news as it happens. For collectors, the same thing applies as we work to update our massive catalogs now ON LINE! (We'll still working on getting everything together. Believe me when I tell you it is a monumental task!) Maybe the best change of all is that we've slashed the price on membership!!! Membership is only $14.95 and, in reality even LESS than that because we throw in a coupon worth $10 towards any GA purchase making the final cost for membership only $4.95!!!
I have to admit that I wasn't sure how the membership would react to this change. I wasn't sure how I would react to it either! I'm a dinosaur in many ways and change can be unsettling. But I have to say I like it! And our members are GREAT! To receive so much support and so much encouragement from them is wonderful and greatly appreciated. This is just a new beginning. Tell us what you think. Tell us what you want. Tell us what you like and dislike and how we can make Gamers Alliance even better! When a door closes, a window opens. We're not closing any doors here. We're opening up the window to let some fresh air in!
In this issue of Gamers Alliance Report, we try to conquer the world (and let's throw in the moon too!), battle dragons for amulets and party with aliens. Al Newman takes the train from the Cape to Cairo with Gunter Burkhardt while Marty Goldberger goes buffalo hunting with Mr. Burkhardt too! With so much going on, a Holiday seems like a pretty good idea. And, of course, much more.
Until next time, Good Gaming!
